Michael Partridge: talking about his recent book on Frederick Minchin, Maverick Airman. Copies of this book will be on show.

28 Feb - 7.30pm to about 9.30 pm.
Terry Owen: we have another author, Terry Owen, talking about the Long Distance Path along the Sussex Ouse Valley. Terry will be bringing some of his publications with him. Talks on the creation of the Sussex Valley long distance path.

6 Mar - 2.45pm to about 4.30 pm.
David Homewood : will bring with him his "Talking machines" and demonstrating their uses. To many of us the advent of the gramophone started with 78 records. David has a large collection of various old gramophones and will bring them along to play. A very interesting "musical" afternoon.

Martin Snow : archaeologist Martin Snow will talk abut the Devils Dyke Pleasure Ground to Bombing Ground ?

3 April - 2.45pm to about 4.30 pm.
Hugh Miller : is back to give a talk on Plantagenet's, Pelham's and Pevensey's last siege. With slides.

4 Sept - 2.45pm to about 4.30 pm.
Duncan Pennock : Hop pickers and their tokens. Duncan has a large collection of hop tokens which he will bring with him to show, and talk about their usage. A very illuminating talk on the Hop picker's holiday in Kent! As Duncan does his talks for free or a cup of tea, I thought this might be of interest to look at his collection of tokens.

25 Sept - 7.30pm to about 9.30 pm.
Anthony Vent : Anthony Vent has working knowledge of railway workers in Eastbourne and two of his books include. Sussex Engineman, the Hubert Hobden memories working in Eastbourne. Whilst Sussex signalman features the Ted Cook story. Anthony will also bring with him some of his railway ,memorabilia. - talk Rail tour Bexhill to Bombay.. I need a slide projector, table and screen. I will call my talk Rail Tour; Bexhill to Bombay, so giving me the opportunity to show a little of my slide collection. It will be a selection of my photographs of railways and trams, preserve and otherwise, taken both here and abroad.

Susan Djabri : will give us a talk on Sarah Hurst visits Eastbourne. Sue has produced a book on the Diaries of Sarah Hurst, a tailor's daughter, 1759-1769 of Horsham, who it seems has a link with her Hurst cousins in Eastbourne, and the Lushington, Gilberts and Mortimer families. - talk A View of Eastbourne in the 1760s.

23 Oct - 7.30pm to about 9.30 pm.
Stewart Angell : on The Secret Sussex Radio Network. Covering the Special Duties Section of the British Resistance during WWII. Two of my talks have connections to the Eastbourne area, mainly the radio side in relation to the old Star Brewery.

6 Nov - 2.45pm to about 4.30 pm.
Patrick Harmer : local retired signalman Patrick Harmer will give a talk on his railway career in Polegate 1948-1998. A donation is required for his local charity, as he has a disabled granddaughter. A talk without slides.

Simon Stevens : Dig in Polegate. Based on his recent archaeological activities in Polegate.

All meetings will be held at St Saviour's and St Peter's Church hall, South Street, BN21 4UT.
Car parking is free at the church.
Doors open 15 minutes before the start of meetings.

Membership subscription of the Society from January 1, 2011 will is £10, £7 per person for two people at the same address with only one copy of the quarterly journal, the Eastbourne Local Historian, and £5 for just the journal sent by post anywhere in the UK.
Subscriptions become due from 1 January each year. In the event of non-payment by the date of the AGM, usually held in April each year, membership of the Society terminates.

All work on Eastbourne Local Historian is voluntary and payment cannot be made for any published material. All material remains the copyright of the contributor unless specifically stated otherwise, and may not be reproduced in any form without the express permission of the copyright holder. All contributions for possible inclusion should be addressed to the Editors by post.
